Page requests and search

The website consists of static pages. It has no visitor accounts, payment function or analytics scripts. The hosting provider may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times and requested files in server logs. Their scope and retention depend on the hosting configuration used.

Article search runs in your browser. Search terms appear in the page address so a search can be reopened. That address may therefore appear in browser history and potentially in server logs.

Language choice and IP lookup

When the general home address is opened without a saved language preference, your browser requests https://ipwho.is/?fields=success,country_code. The external IPWHOIS service receives your IP address and technical connection information. Only the success status and country code are requested. This website does not store an IP address from that lookup.

Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein receive German; other countries receive English. Errors or a wait of five seconds result in English. Country is only an approximation and does not identify the language a person speaks. Explicit German and English page addresses do not trigger this lookup or automatic redirection.

A manual language choice is saved in browser local storage until cleared. A niklas_language cookie is also set for up to one year. It takes priority over the IP lookup. Change it using the language switch or remove this website's data in your browser. Read the external service's privacy policy for its own data practices.

Email and external websites

If you email us, the information you provide is used to address your message. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information. External links lead to independent websites with their own policies. Third-party maps or booking widgets are not automatically embedded.
